| Based
on the B-29, the first XC-97 prototype was flown on November 15, 1944.
The most produced version of the KC-97 was the KC-97G with 592 built. It
had full tanker or full transport capability without any on-unit equipment
change. When production ended in 1956, a total of 888 C-97s had been built.
The KC-97G had a maximum speed of 375 mph, operating ceiling of 30.200
ft, and a range of 4,300 miles. |
