| As
an experimental test pilot, General (then Capt.) Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager
test flew this research plane. The XF-92 was the first delta-winged aircraft.
It made its first flight on 18 September 1948 as a flying mockup to test
the delta wing configuration, a phase in the development of the projected
XF-92 jet and rocket-powered fighter. From this the groundwork would be
laid for further aircraft of this type. These would include the Convair
F-102, F-106, B-58, SR-71, and even foreign types such as the Dassault
Mirage series, just to name a few. |
All airplane models are Hand Carved, Hand Painted
Mahogany and comes fully assembled with removable desk stand. |
