| Design
of the DC-10 began in 1966, with the initial production DC-10 Series 10
flown for the first time on August 29, 1970. The company ultimately received
446 orders for civil DC-10s, the last of which was delivered to Nigeria
Airways in 1989. The DC-10 Series 30 used three 51,000 lb. thrust General
Electric CF6-50C turbofans, giving the plane a maximum cruising speed of
564 MPH at 30,000 feet, with a range of 4,605 miles with maximum payload. |
