| A
coal carrying merchant ship operating on the coast of England, named the
Bethia, was purchased by the Admiralty, renamed the Bounty, and recommissioned
in 1787 for a special mission. She was to sail halfway around the
world to Tahiti, collect sapling breadfruit trees and transport them to
the West Indies. Owners of the burgeoning British plantations there
needed a cheap source of food for the workers.
There are two versions of the Bounty. One made in Hollywood to carry
Brando, the other made in England to carry coal. Ours is meant to carry
only your imagination. She makes a fine model, 80 cm of brightly finished
natural woodcraft, plank on frame, cloth sails and interesting detail.
Length: 24" form tip of deck to stern.
Height: about 3/4 the length.
